Agreement to Terms
By creating an account or using Timbre, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Timbre.
Timbre is operated by Weiss Solutions LLC ("we", "us", "our"). "You" refers to the individual using the application.
Description of Service
Timbre is a macOS application that provides:
- Speech-to-text — Records audio from your microphone and transcribes it to text using ElevenLabs' API.
- Text-to-speech — Converts selected text to spoken audio using xAI's API.
The service requires an internet connection and a Timbre account.
Accounts
To use Timbre, you must create an account using a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
Free Tier and Usage Limits
Timbre offers a free tier with the following monthly limits:
- Up to 1 hour per month of speech-to-text
- Up to 30,000 words per month of text-to-speech
Speech-to-text and text-to-speech have separate monthly limits. These limits may be adjusted at any time. When a limit is reached, that feature will be unavailable until the next billing period.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Timbre to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Infringe on the rights of others, including intellectual property rights
- Generate, transcribe, or synthesize content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
- Impersonate another person using synthesized voice
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits or abuse the service
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
Intellectual Property
Timbre and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Weiss Solutions LLC and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of any content you create using Timbre (transcriptions, etc.). We claim no rights over your content.
Third-Party Services
Timbre relies on third-party services (ElevenLabs, xAI, Cloudflare, Resend) to provide its functionality. Your use of Timbre is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these providers. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Timbre is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Transcriptions will be accurate or complete
- Text-to-speech output will be free of artifacts or errors
- The service will meet your specific requirements
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Weiss Solutions LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill, arising from:
- Your use of or inability to use Timbre
- Any errors or inaccuracies in transcription or speech synthesis
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Any third-party conduct or content
Our total liability for any claims arising from or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Termination
You may stop using Timbre at any time. You may request account deletion by contacting us.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.
Changes to Terms
We may revise these terms at any time by updating this page. Your continued use of Timbre after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Timbre shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Idaho.
